United States WhatsApp Groups

Being a South Asian immigrant in the US usually means living with a low, constant hum of paperwork anxiety. H1B lottery results, OPT extensions, green card backlogs that stretch out for decades. And the place where people actually process all that stress together is the WhatsApp group. There's a tech worker in Texas asking whether it's safe to use a particular consultancy for a visa transfer. A bunch of students at an Ohio state university are trying to figure out how to move an old mattress two miles from one apartment complex to another. The country is so spread out that you end up depending on people you've never met in person. You need these digital networks. They cover everything from an IT contract role in New Jersey to someone hunting for a Gujarati-speaking cashier for a motel in Georgia. And then there are the food emergencies. Finding a caterer who can actually make good biryani for fifty people in a suburb where the nearest Indian store is an hour away. One more thing: never trust a group admin who claims they can guarantee you a sponsor for an employment visa.
